“Meet Janah” Senior Year: The road to Ivy Admits and Top 30 colleges!

May 13, 2022

2 Timothy 4:7

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

The college admission process is NOT for the faint of heart. It takes complete courage and bravery for any 17 year old to put themselves out there - heart and soul - and await a life changing decision.

Every student I have ever worked with has faced imposter syndrome. They get to senior year, look at their list of dream colleges and begin to doubt themselves, their abilities, and simply lose it. Seniors become paralyzed in their tracks and it can manifest in putting off writing the essays and procrastination of submitting an application. It’s heartbreaking to watch, but those who can push and persevere reap the benefits.

Janah began senior year with her new vision board, set out to apply to Harvard, and believed with every bone in her body that her vision would come to be. And for as confident as she is, Janah, like everyone, suffered moments of imposter syndrome. She became paralyzed in her writing, and nervous about interviewing.

What did Janah need? Her “Hype Squad” - those in her corner, beginning with God, to remind her that she is a woman who fights the good fight, finishes the race, and keeps the faith. And so, she did.

Every hesitation and rejection was soon followed by affirmations and celebrations. Listen to Janah as she walks us through every moment of senior year. Warning: this is not for the faint of heart.

Janah came to us just after sophomore year when she joined Dream College Academy and later became a private client and alumna of College Essay Bootcamp.  As a private client there is nothing we did not talk about, think through, plan for, and execute. With regular meetings and the use of the Marco Polo app, Janah had me as coach, mentor, and cheerleader at every step of the way.
