She Grew The Nursing Club By 500%!
Today we meet Alexia, an aspiring Mechanical Engineer major. With a ton of acceptances, the money talks – whose package enticed her most?
How did you come up with your list? I wanted to take this time in college to explore other parrots of the country. I applied mostly on the east coast. I made it almost impossible to change my mind. I did a lot of research on smaller colleges.
Let’s talk about all of that money you were offered. I didn’t qualify for any Financial Aid through FAFSA, so all of my awards were merit dollars
What did you do right? Well, I really just worked really hard on my grades. I didn’t stress out about college. But I had a strict routine– school, club soccer and homework. That kept me on track for all 4 years.
What is your coolness factor? I joined a nursing club, and it had so few members that I sort of changed the club to a STEM club and grew membership form about 5 to over 75. I planned fundraisers, put in events that were interesting to people, used social media to achieve this.
Anything you would do differently given the chance? I didn’t even think about where I was applying until fall of my senior year - If I could do it again I would definitely start the college research process sooner.
